Find Your Way Back Journal Gift Box

I believe we have the power to write our way through anything and to anything. I wrote a whole book about it. My book Find Your Way Back is a collection of essays about how I’ve used writing to get through everything life has thrown my way — including cancer. But I also wrote my way to the career of my dreams. Most importantly, I use journaling to write my way back to myself. And I want to help you do the same. That’s why I included writing prompts throughout the book and that’s why I developed the Find Your Way Back journal gift box — or the Write Your Way Back box as I like to call it.

This gift box includes

  • a signed copy of my book
  • a pink journal
  • 30 journal prompt cards (with prompts designed to help you write your way through hardship and to the best version of yourself)
  • a beautiful floral scarf

This box would make a great gift for your mom, sister, best friend or YOURSELF!

Less than 10 boxes are available. Order yours here.

Special thanks to Shine by Charlene for bringing my vision to life and to Keep A Breast Foundation for financial assistance with this project.

Write for Us

The See Jane Write website is not accepting submissions from guest writers at this time.

Check back in summer 2026. In the meantime, here’s what we will be looking for…

Personal Essays

We want your stories! We’re especially interested in personal essays about how you found your voice, how you speak up for yourself or others, and how you’ve lifted your voice in spite of someone trying to silence you.

Here are some examples:

Southern Writers: Rep the South in your bios!

But who cares about Southern women?

(No, your essay doesn’t have to be about life in the South.)

Journaling helped me slay imposter syndrome in disguise

Q&A Profiles

Is there a contemporary woman writer who’s inspiring you to live your best writing life? We want to know about her! We’re accepting Q&A style profiles too.

Here’s an oldie but goodie as an example: Poet Ashley M Jones discusses her debut book “Magic City Gospel”

How-To Articles & News We Can Use

We want your best writing advice, so we’re always down for a strong how-to piece or other articles offering practice writing tips. You can find examples here, here, and here.

We’re also interested in writing event announcements and recaps — especially if they’re in or around Birmingham, Alabama. But feel free to pitch national events, too.

Here’s an example of an event recap: WBHM brings live broadcast of NPR’s Weekend Edition with Scott Simon to Birmingham

The Deets

The word count for articles can range anywhere between 600 to 1200 words, with 1000 words typically being the sweet spot for most pieces.

Payment is $100.

Submit pitches to Javacia Harris Bowser at javacia@seejanewritebham.com.

Journaling and Meditation: Essential Tools for Self-Discovery

Journaling and meditation are two practices that can serve as the cornerstones of your self-care regimen. But they can also help you get in touch with who you are and what you want.

I love journaling. In fact, I may be obsessed with it. Like most folks, I kept a diary when I was younger filled with teen angst. But as I grew older, I realized journaling could be used for so much more than ranting and raving. Journaling is my superpower!

Meditation — not so much!
