I Googled this question the other day after watching an old YouTube video by Ianthia Smith on this topic.

Ianthia is a news reporter turned lifestyle blogger and in the video, she interviewed her former boss who has followed a similar path.

She shared that when she quit her reporting job to blog many of her peers looked down on her for that decision. Why would leave her journalism to be “just a blogger,” they wondered.

Merriam-Webster defines intuition as “quick and ready insight; the power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference.”

Sometimes we call intuition a sixth sense or a gut instinct. And there’s no shortage of anecdotes about the power of female intuition.  But could tuning into your intuition make you a better writer?

How to Read Like a Writer

Good writers read good writing. I say this a lot. People often ask me what they can do to improve their writing and this is always my answer (along with regularly practicing your craft).

Stephen King once said, “If you don’t have the time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write.” So, if you won’t listen to me, maybe you’ll listen to one of the most prolific writers of our generation.

But you may be wondering exactly how reading more can improve your writing. You may be wondering how to read like a writer.
