Black Bloggers United is coming to Birmingham

Black Bloggers United, an organization dedicated to enhancing and highlighting black content creators, is hosting its Power Hour event in Birmingham for the first time on Saturday, April 15.

The #bbupowerhour meet-up is scheduled to be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Starbucks located at 1927 11th Ave South.

Founded by blogger and event planner Victoria Mason, Black Bloggers United began in February of 2015 as an Instagram account and has since grown into an international movement hosting webinars, monthly chats, local workshops and more with members in over 70 countries and eight regional directors in North America.

I recently had a chat with Birmingham-based blogger and vlogger Keoshia Kyneard of BusyDoingMe.com, who serves as the BBU Birmingham regional director.

My Goal Digger Handbook

I’m a girl with goals galore, but I’m also a girl who knows that a goal without a plan is just a wish. So I am intentional and strategic when I set my goals for the year, the quarter, and the month. I want to help you do the same as we all plot our plans for April and the second quarter of the year. So I’m giving you a peek inside my goals notebook. Yes, I actually have a special notebook that’s reserved only for setting and planning my goals. (It’s the “I Am Very Busy notebook pictured above.) I call it my Goal Digger Handbook.

Why Goals Matter

If you were driving from Birmingham to Atlanta or New Orleans and you ran into road construction, traffic jams, or stormy weather, chances are you wouldn’t just give up on making it to your destination. Yes, you’d be annoyed by the delays. Yes, you may face a detour or two and you may even pull off the highway and take a break at a rest stop if traffic was at a standstill for too long, but you wouldn’t give up.

I Need a Do Over

Here we are at the end of the first quarter of 2017 and I feel as if I need a do over.

Yes, I did accomplish a lot this quarter: I hosted my first virtual summit. I took a writecation. I hosted several live events (virtual and in person). I helped a VIP coaching client launch a blog and another write a book.

But along the way I lost focus. I began to question my major goals for the quarter, for the year, for my life! And so I stopped pursuing them.

After revisiting my life vision and personal mission, spending lots of quality time with my prayer journal, and chatting with my business coach, I am back on track. And I’m declaring the second quarter of 2017 my do over. If your year didn’t start off quite the way you had wished, I invite you to declare this next quarter your do over, too.

On April 3 at 6:30 p.m. CT I’m hosting a free goal setting and planning webinar to help you slay the next 90 days. Click here to sign up and get a free workbook.

Let’s do this!
