Using journal prompts for goal setting is a great way to ensure you’re setting goals that truly align with your vision and values and that you’re not just drafting a laundry list of tasks or habits that your favorite TikTok creator said would be a good idea.
As we start a new quarter today, this is a perfect time to revisit and revamp our 2025 goals. Spring is here and this may also give you a boost of energy to go after your dreams.
I’ll be meeting with the women of the See Jane Write Collective today to help them with their Q2 goals. Of course, I’ll be using journal prompts to guide them—the same prompts that I worked through a few days ago to set my goals for this new season.
Here are 11 powerful journal prompts for goal setting that will help you pause, reflect, and reset.
Journal Prompts for Goal Setting: Q2 2025
How do you feel right now and why, and what are you going to do about it?
This is my go-to journaling prompt. It gives you the opportunity to get out all your thoughts and feelings, to vent, rant, or rave. But then it challenges you to decline the invitation to a pity party by asking you to consider the actions you can take to make your situation better. Or if things are going well, you can brainstorm ways to maintain your momentum.
What are you most grateful for right now?
Gratitude changes everything. Gratitude can shift your perspective as you enter a new season and show you what you want more of in your life.
What things did you accomplish in the previous quarter of the year?
Make note of any goals you achieved but also celebrate the things that perhaps you didn’t set out to accomplish but they happened, nonetheless. Consider what helped you accomplish the things you achieved. You want more of that in this new season.
What did you want to accomplish but didn’t, and what do you think stood in your way?
Reflecting on what you didn’t accomplish isn’t about beating yourself up. It’s about figuring out what obstacles you need to overcome moving forward.
How do you want to feel during the new quarter of the year?
Did you choose a word for the year? I like to choose a word for each quarter and even each month. And I choose this word based on how I want to feel. My word for the year is BOLD. My word for the quarter is CONFIDENT. My word for April is FRESH. I want to be bold and feel confident enough to try something fresh and new this month.

Do you need to revamp any of your goals for the year?
The start of a new quarter is the perfect time to revisit your goals for the year. Are there goals you set for the year that no longer align with your vision and values? Are there goals that need to be moved to 2026? Do you have different priorities and have they inspired new goals?
What can you do this quarter to lead you closer to your goals for the year?
Do a brain dump of all the things you could do this quarter. But don’t try to do ALL THE THINGS. You’ll use the next prompt to find your focus.
What are your top 3 priorities for this new quarter?
When working with the women of the See Jane Write Collective, I always encourage them to choose one writing priority, one wellness priority, and a priority related to some other area of life that needs attention. For example, my writing priority this quarter is launching my Substack newsletter. My wellness priority is establishing 3 core healthy habits. And my other priority is to organize every room in my house.
Turn your top priorities into specific, measurable goals.
You need a way to measure when your goal is accomplished. For example, when I drink 64 ounces of water every day for 30 days, I will check off that healthy habit.
Make a list of the tasks and/or habits that will help you achieve these goals.
To accomplish your goals, you may need to develop a habit such as writing every day. Or maybe you need to break down your goal into smaller steps. For example, if you’re also looking to launch a Substack newsletter, you’ll need to set up your account, determine the format of your newsletter, batch some newsletters (stay consistent by staying ahead!), and write your welcome email for new subscribers.
How will you reward yourself for accomplishing your goals?
So often, we are in such a hurry to move on to our next goal that we don’t take time to celebrate our successes. Plan a reward for yourself for accomplishing your Q2 goals. I’m going to buy myself an Oura ring!

Awesome!
Bold, Confident, and Fresh, you gave me your thunder to steal. I copy you in several ways, especially when making my writing schedules.
This month, I have some travel plans. I am not a frequently travelling person. So, yes, I hope I boldly made my plans to feel confident and fresh. 🙂
I hope your parents are doing better now. I also take this opportunity to wish you all the best of luck in all areas of your life.
Stay blessed.
