August is membership month here at See Jane Write headquarters, which means I’m working hard to welcome as many new members to the See Jane Write Collective as possible this month.
But I want you to know that I don’t see you as a number. I see you as a whole person with hopes and dreams and it is my goal to make those aspirations of yours come true. (You can apply to join at seejanewritebham.com/membership.)
Here’s how the See Jane Write Collective can help you achieve your writing, blogging, and business goals…
We’ll help you write the vision and make it plain.
Each month I create a goal setting workbook for See Jane Write Collective members that is designed to guide you through sorting out your goals for the month and devising a plan to accomplish them. These workbooks are housed in the members-only resource library, which also has lessons on writing vision and mission statements for your life and writing career.
Furthermore, the resource library has content to help you at any stage in your writing life. Whether you’re looking to start a blog, revise your manuscript, publish your book, begin a freelance writing career, grow your social media presence, or launch a money-making venture — See Jane Write can help.
We’ll help you sit down and do the work!
Every week for members I host what I like to call a virtual Girls Write-In. During this time See Jane Write Collective members and I gather on a Zoom call and JUST WRITE! Sure there’s some girl talk before and after our writing sprint, but members are very productive during these sessions. This dedicated writing time could be exactly what you need to finally start blogging consistently or make progress on your book project.
We’ll be your greatest cheerleaders.
Writing is a communal act. Not only do you need to get inspiration from the works of other writers, we often need encouragement from other writers, too. Our book club See Jane Read will keep you inspired as will reading blog posts and online articles shared in the See Jane Write Network Facebook group. Our members-only Facebook group will give you even more support and if you become a member of the See Jane Write Collective I’ll help you find an accountability partner, too.
As a member, you will get access to monthly group coaching sessions so you can get advice on anything you’re struggling with in your writing or blogging life, and through our monthly critique sessions, you can get feedback on your work.
If you’re ready to join, simply fill out the membership application here.

Through the years I’ve found that See Jane Write has helped me achieve my goals, too. Striving to be an example for the women in my community always keeps me motivated.
Here are my August goals and plans and how I plan to achieve each one.
August Goals and Plans
Publish 9 blog posts. I’m going to practice what I preach and not only plan what I want to write about but also when I will write each post. The weekly Girls Write-In sessions, for example, will be a perfect time to work on blog posts.
Send story pitches to 9 publications. This month I’m fasting television for 21 days and during that time I plan to send 3 pitches per week. If you don’t have the time you have to make the time. I’m doing just that by taking a break from my shows.
Write an outline for the next draft of my book. August 5-9 I’m attending SPARK Writing Festival at UAB and I hope I’ll get the inspiration I need to get back to work on the book.

Welcome at least 25 new members to the See Jane Write Collective. To accomplish this goal I’m going to make sure I show up for my business in a big way, every day. (And you can help me reach this goal by joining today! Click here to get started.)
My personal goals for the month:
Clean my home office. As I confessed last month, my home office has been a complete mess since I quit my job as a high school English teacher and moved out of my classroom. This month I’m determined to restore my home office to its former days of Pinterest-worthy glory. The trick is finding a day I can devote to this.
Read 3 books. Fasting TV for 21 days should make accomplishing this goal pretty easy.
Lose 8 pounds. Along with fasting television, I’m also giving up sweets, chips, and alcohol for 3 weeks. This along with daily exercise should help me shed a few pounds this month.
My August Plans
Attend Spark Writing Festival.
Attend and speak at WordCamp Birmingham.
Attend Sidewalk Film Festival.
All of these plans are sure to inspire me as a writer and blogger.
Do you have BHAGs?
In addition to the goals and plans above, I also have BHAGs — big, hairy, audacious goals. (I didn’t come up with that. Please credit Sophia Amoruso of GirlBoss.)
These are goals that are so big they scare you and they scare you so much that you probably keep them to yourself.
I have three big, hairy, audacious goals for the month, but those are between me, my journal, and God.
What are your goals and plans for August? Let me know in the comments.
