October is here. We’re in the final quarter of the year. And as a college football fan, I love a good 4th quarter win. But this month if you see me strutting around holding four fingers in the air it might not be for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but for the ladies of See Jane Write — and for myself. I am declaring that this quarter is ours.

Before setting my goals for the month I took some time to revisit my vision for my writing and blogging life. I wrote my future bio for myself, a bio that I would want someone to read before I took the stage to speak at my favorite conference. This helped me get clear on exactly what I want. Then it was time to set some goals for the remainder of 2018 that would get me closer to this vision.

My Q4 2018 Goals:

  • Revamp my website.
  • Develop a new blog strategy.
  • Create a real email funnel.
  • Grow See Jane Write Collective membership to 500 members.
  • Complete The Write Pitch e-course.
  • #bloglikecrazy
  • Write the book I want to write.
  • Lose 25 pounds.

This list includes things I know I need to do but have been putting off all year (such as revamping my website), goals for the year I have yet to accomplish (such as growing See Jane Write membership to 500), and things that, if accomplished, would set me up for success next year (such as my email funnel, completing The Write Pitch e-course, and developing a new blog strategy).

This list also includes a goal that is the product of some major soul-searching. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know that I’ve been trying to write a book for the past two years. Actually, I have written a book. But I haven’t done anything with it because, quite frankly, I don’t like it. It’s not the book I wanted to write. It’s the book I was told I should write. So, I’m putting that book project on the shelf and writing the book that I’ve been carrying in my heart for years.

I took a look at my 4th quarter goals and decided in which month I would focus on each goal. I set goals for October to correspond with some of my 4th quarter goals and set some other goals related to time-sensitive tasks.

My October Goals:

  • Raise $850 for The Women’s Fund (You can help me with this goal by donating here.)
  • Write 4 freelance stories.
  • Write 25,000 words for the book I actually want to write.
  • Send 250 invitations to join the See Jane Write Collective.
  • Revamp my website.
  • Prepare for #bloglikecrazy.
  • Create a real email funnel.
  • Lose 10 pounds.

To accomplish these goals I’m going to work on every single one every single day. For real.

What are your goals for October and for the final quarter of 2018?
