July is a month that fills me with energy, an energy that urges me to work hard and play harder. As a teacher, I seek to soak up and savor the final weeks of summer break and have as much fun as possible. As a writerpreneur, I’m pushed to hustle hard to grow my writing career and my business before school starts. I’m convinced I can do both.

Here are my writing, blogging, and personal goals for July 2018 and how I plan to have fun.

GOALS

Write 10 personal essays. To accomplish this goal I’ll be sure to write something every single day, even if it’s just a line or two. Also, I’m going to read an essay or a portion of a memoir every day to keep the inspiration flowing.

Submit 4 story pitches for freelance gigs. Each week I’ll focus on a different publication, first taking time to really study the publication and then crafting an idea that will be a good fit.

Double the monthly average monthly page views for the See Jane Write blog. I hope to accomplish this goal by writing more posts and doing a better job of promoting each one.

Lose 5 pounds. I should focus on improving my eating habits to accomplish this goal but it’s summer and I want all the froyo. So, I’ll just focus on exercising most days of the week.

PLANS

Host another See Jane Write Girls Write-In on July 12. (You can RSVP here.)

Share the story of See Jane Write at Founders Friday at Forge on July 20. (You can RSVP here.)

Spend quality time with family and friends every week.

Attend Art on the Rocks on July 27 at the Birmingham Museum of Art.

Try all the free fitness classes offered at Railroad Park. Let’s hope this will help me lose those 5 pounds. If you’re in the Birmingham area and would like to join me, let me know!
