Regardless of your political beliefs, I am sure the past week has been emotional and stressful for you with social media feeds being filled with so much strife and discord. I was fortunate enough to spend Wednesday evening celebrating the release of a See Jane Write member’s first book. I shared this good news with you last week hoping it would lift your spirits, too. But I know it’s pretty impossible to just go back to business as usual.
So don’t.
Make the decision today that you will use your words and your influence now more than ever to speak out and stand up for the things you believe in and the values you hold dear. But let us focus more on the things and the people we’re fighting for than the things we’re fighting against. Let’s use our words to spread love and encourage understanding as much as we can.
One of the things I cherish most about See Jane Write is the diversity within our group. So let us remember the words of Audre Lorde who said, “It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.”
That said, I think it’s safe to assume we all believe women should feel empowered to share their stories because that’s what See Jane Write is all about.
So let’s continue to share our stories and support our sisters as they share theirs, too.
Let’s continue this conversation in the See Jane Write Facebook group. Let’s ask questions, share feelings, and promote an open, honest, and respectful dialogue.
Let’s share our successes in writing, blogging, business, and life.
Let’s cheer each other on.
And let’s have fun because I’m sure we could all use a bit of that! My goal has always been that the See Jane Write Facebook group would feel like a virtual slumber party or girls night in. You don’t need to be in the Birmingham to join this party. Click here to join this free group today.
Thank you for being a part of my tribe. I cherish you more than you know.
