Aug 12-21: Birmingham Restaurant Week
Food bloggers, it’s time! Birmingham Restaurant Week kicks off tomorrow. This 10-day event gives Birmingham residents and tourists the chance to get a taste of the Magic City food scene and cuisine. From Aug. 12 – 21 participating restaurants will offer a variety of food and drink specials, including two and and/or three course prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menus for $5, $10, $15, $20 or $30 per-person. Aug. 13: Poet & Spoken Word Artist Sunni Patterson Visits Birmingham
You’ve seen her on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam and TED Talks and heard her on 2 Chainz’s “Black Unicorn” with Chrisette Michelle. Now see her LIVE. Poet and spoken word artist Sunni Patterson is headed to the Magic City, Saturday, Aug. 13.
First, from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Hub, Patterson will led an interactive workshop for artists and poets. Then, that evening from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Seeds Coffee, Patterson will hit the stage to perform some of her best work. The evening will also feature three emerging artists from Birmingham — Joell Regal, Madam B, and Eugenius Neutron (recently featured in B-Metro).

Aug. 14: Relax & Shoot: A Snapshot Soiree and Silent Auction
With this unique event, local photographer and See Jane Write member Tosha Gaines is raising money for her daughter’s participation in a competitive Lacrosse team of elite athletes from across the country. At Relax & Shoot, Tosha will offer mini “snapshot” photo sessions to attendees. The 15-20 minute mini sessions are $60 and include your choice of three digital items from the shoot. A makeup artist will be on site, too! There will also be a silent auction with a variety of items for sale such as gift baskets, custom jewelry, and handmade items.
