see-jane-snap

At the risk of sounding old and out-of-touch, I must admit to you that I didn’t sign up for Snapchat until about a year ago because for the longest I thought it was just an app teenagers used for sexting. And even though I now have an account, I think I’ve used it twice.

Snapchat is not my jam.

But I know this is a bandwagon I need to hop on ASAP. Here’s why: some social media gurus believe that within the next two years or so Snapchat will be more influential than Twitter and Instagram combined. Snapchat has the real-time element of Twitter with the visual aspect of Instagram. And because the videos are only 10 seconds long, Snapchat appeals to our short attention spans.

Snapchat is a superb storytelling tool that can definitely be used to boost your personal brand. Just ask DJ Khaled. In large part because of his clever use of Snapchat, DJ Khaled has seen a massive resurgence in his popularity as of late, so much so that he was tapped to open for Beyonce during her Formation World Tour.

But I’m not DJ Khaled and I still wonder exactly how I can make Snapchat work for me.
