Black Bloggers United is coming to Birmingham

Black Bloggers United, an organization dedicated to enhancing and highlighting black content creators, is hosting its Power Hour event in Birmingham for the first time on Saturday, April 15.

The #bbupowerhour meet-up is scheduled to be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Starbucks located at 1927 11th Ave South.

Founded by blogger and event planner Victoria Mason, Black Bloggers United began in February of 2015 as an Instagram account and has since grown into an international movement hosting webinars, monthly chats, local workshops and more with members in over 70 countries and eight regional directors in North America.

I recently had a chat with Birmingham-based blogger and vlogger Keoshia Kyneard of BusyDoingMe.com, who serves as the BBU Birmingham regional director.

My Goal Digger Handbook

 

I’m a girl with goals galore, but I’m also a girl who knows that a goal without a plan is just a wish. So I am intentional and strategic when I set my goals for the year, the quarter, and the month. I want to help you do the same as we all plot our plans for April and the second quarter of the year. So I’m giving you a peek inside my goals notebook. Yes, I actually have a special notebook that’s reserved only for setting and planning my goals. (It’s the “I Am Very Busy notebook pictured above.) I call it my Goal Digger Handbook.

36 for 36

There’s something special about having a birthday in the second month of the year. If you’ve had less than a happy new year, if you’ve broken resolutions or failed to accomplish your January goals, your birthday becomes your second chance. Your birthday becomes your do-over.

Today, February 9, is my birthday. Today begins my second chance at 12 months of excellence.

Today I turn 36 and as I wrote in my Write Like a Girl column for B-Metro, at first I wasn’t quite sure what to do with this new age. You see, 36 is not a milestone birthday, but it sure feels like one as it officially declares me closer to 40 than 30. Does this make me old? I wondered. Does this mean I’m “over the hill”? Was 35 “the hill”?

But, I’ve decided that only I can define the prime of my life, so, I will take 36 and have the time of my life.
