Design of a Decade: Lessons Learned in the Past 10 Years

Tacos, TED Talks, and Taking Leaps. If I had to come up with an alliterative title for the past 10 years I think that’s what it would be. For weeks I’ve been planning to write a Year in Review post. But last week it hit me that since we are at the end of a decade, reviewing the past 10 years might be much more fun and more valuable to you. So let’s do this!

Here are 10 lessons I’ve learned in the past 10 years…

5 Minutes of Gratitude

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States and I’m sure many people started their day working on today’s big meal.

I’m fortunate enough to have a father who loves to cook — he even worked in a restaurant back in the day — and handles our holiday meals. My job is just to be the hostess with the mostest.

Since I cleaned my house yesterday and will set the table while Daddy’s dressing is in the oven, I was able to spend Thanksgiving morning actually giving thanks. My Start Today journal prompts me to list five things I’m grateful for each day, but today I wanted to do more. Today I wanted to try five minutes of gratitude instead.

Five Healthy Habits for 2020

Church of the Highlands senior pastor Chris Hodges believes in the power of having five healthy habits that you practice every day. So does author, motivational speaker and blogger Rachel Hollis. She even has a name for this — “five to strive.”
