Like nearly every other black woman in the United States of America, I kicked off my weekend by going to see Girls Trip with one of my best friends. The movie follows four college BFFs as they reunite for a long overdue girls trip to New Orleans for ESSENCE Festival.
My theme for this month is FREEDOM, and not simply because this is the month in which we celebrate America’s independence.
This month I am setting goals that are all about feeling free.
Chances are you hate to hear the words, “Build your brand.” Thinking of yourself as a brand may feel gross or even wrong. But it’s not. Building a personal brand simply means defining and clearly conveying what you’re all about — who you are, what you do, and why you do it.
In part one of the “Write Like a Boss” series, we established that you are a writer. Remember, to be a writer all you have to do is write. But I want you to be a writer who makes money and makes a difference. One thing that will help you do this is building a personal brand.
May 1st is here and a new month means new goals to slay.
Here are my goals for the month:
I’m a girl with goals galore, but I’m also a girl who knows that a goal without a plan is just a wish. So I am intentional and strategic when I set my goals for the year, the quarter, and the month. I want to help you do the same as we all plot our plans for April and the second quarter of the year. So I’m giving you a peek inside my goals notebook. Yes, I actually have a special notebook that’s reserved only for setting and planning my goals. (It’s the “I Am Very Busy notebook pictured above.) I call it my Goal Digger Handbook.
