How to Rebrand Your Blog in Style

Megan LaRussa Chenoweth and I

If you’re like me the new year has you in the mood for all new everything and you may be wondering if it’s time for you to rebrand your blog. I’ve honestly been wondering the same thing about See Jane Write.

While thinking this over I decided to revisit an interview I did back in 2015 with style coach Megan LaRussa Chenoweth when she rebranded her blog and business. For years, Megan has been my brand and business role model and she’s the prototype of how women can transition from lady blogger to boss lady.

3 Ways to Build Your Audience

Being consistent on social media is a great way to build your audience.

There is no such thing as an aspiring writer. You don’t need a blog, a book deal, or a freelance gig to be a writer. To be a writer all you have to do is write. But if you want to be a writer who makes an impact and an income, you have to do more. You have to think and act like an entrepreneur. You have to think of personal branding.

Yesterday in my private Facebook group for the See Jane Write Members Collective, a member asked “Would love to hear about your strategy to get your name out there. What do you do daily to get in front of the people you want to work with?”

Great question!

In a Facebook Live for members only, which I do every Wednesday, I answered this question and I want to give you a peek at the tips I offered and share with you the one thing I MUST get better about in 2018.

Put in the work. That’s the rule that award-winning coach, speaker, and human resources consultant Melva Tate lives by. How to Get Confident for Your Photo Shoot

You know you need to schedule a photo shoot. On more than one occasion you’ve been asked for a headshot and you’ve had to send an embarrassing selfie instead of a professional portrait. The Welcome, About, and FAQ pages of your website all have stock photos or no images at all. And you don’t even have a picture of yourself in the sidebar of your blog!

You know you need to schedule a photo shoot, but you just can’t build the courage to do so. Trust me, I understand. (more…)

How to Start and Grow Your Email List

One of the biggest mistakes I see writers and bloggers making nowadays is failing to start and grow an email list. EVERYONE NEEDS AN EMAIL LIST. If you’re a blogger you can use your list to promote your blog posts. If you’re an entrepreneur, you can use your list to promote the products or services that you offer. If you’re an author you can use your list to promote your books and your readings. If you’re a freelance journalist, you can use your list to promote your articles and to stay connected to your contacts, who will ultimately help you generate more story ideas and writing opportunities.

Now, this doesn’t mean you’ll only email people when you want something from them. A good rule of thumb to follow is give, give, give, ask. Be sure you’ve offered valuable content FOR FREE before you ask your list to buy from you.

Yes, growing your social media following is important, too, but you don’t own social media. Algorithm changes can and do affect if your followers actually see your content. Therefore, growing your list should be your priority.

If you want to start and grow your email list, but you’re not quite sure how to do so, keep reading!
