On June 1, I published a post titled “Dear Birmingham” in response to black-owned businesses being damaged and reporters being assaulted in the unrest of May 31 and June 1. In the post, I declared that rioting is wrong and discussed the importance of peaceful protests and strategic political action.
The next day I decided to remove this post.

When it comes book publishing, we often think we only have two options – work for years and years to land a literary agent and a book deal with a traditional publisher or strike out on our own and try our hand at self-publishing. But there is another way to get your work into the world and that’s through hybrid publishing.

Can you walk for exercise for at least 30 minutes for 30 days?
On January 1, I vowed to walk for exercise every day for 366 days in 2020. Then on January 24, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I must confess that when I got the news one of my first thoughts was, “Crap! Is this going to mess up my plans to walk for exercise every day for 366 days?”

One year ago, I did the unthinkable.
I left a job I absolutely loved to take a leap into the unknown. One year ago, I began my journey as a full-time freelance writer.
May 24, 2019 was my last day as an English teacher at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. So, today marks my one-year anniversary as a full-time writerpreneur.
Here’s what I’ve learned along the way.
