Box jumps. Clapping push-ups. One-arm kettlebell swings. These are all things that two weeks ago I would have told you I couldn’t do. But now, I know I can do these things and so much more.
I recently became a member at Squad Fitness, which offers workouts of high-intensity interval training for both cardio and strength conditioning. Squad Fitness sessions are the most challenging workouts I have ever done, but I love it because I leave the gym feeling so strong.
And I’m carrying this feeling of strength into other areas of my life, too.
To be honest, I’ve spent most of this year discouraged and disappointed. Because I’m having so much trouble writing a book that I actually like, I’d convinced myself that I wasn’t meant to be an author. Because I’m approaching 40 and I still I haven’t written for all of my favorite magazines, I felt that those dreams would never come true. And because the business side of my blog isn’t where I’d hoped it would be by now, I told myself it never would be.
But this is no longer my story. If I can do one-legged burpees I can do anything!
The coaches at Squad Fitness have a knack for pushing us out of our comfort zone without pushing us beyond our true limits. When it comes to my writing, blogging, and business dreams I’ve got to be my own coach and do this for myself. I’ve got to push myself out of my comfort zone and be willing to try a new approach for my blog, my book, my business, and my freelance writing career. But I must continue to make self-care a priority along the way, too.
No, this isn’t a sponsored post for Squad Fitness. This is just me realizing once again how much my fitness life influences my writerpreneur life. How great to know that a kettlebell can help my writing and blogging career as much as a keyboard!
