The Southern Social Summit, also known as S3, is a one-day conference dedicated to exploring the art and the science behind social media marketing. I’m excited to share that I will be a speaker at the conference and will, of course, be discussing blogging and how it can be used to build a brand.
S3 is a collaboration between Sociallyin and Happenins in the Ham.
Sociallyin is a team of creatives, artists, designers, social butterflies, writers, photographers, strategists that specialize in social media marketing. Happenin’s in the ‘Ham is a Birmingham-based team devoted to informing their followers about a variety of fun events going on in the city and surrounding areas.
“This conference is something both Happenin’s in the Ham and Sociallyin have been wanting to do for a while,” says Russell Hooks of Happenin’s in the ‘Ham. “The Southeast didn’t have a conference dedicated to a broad social media strategy. Usually, social media gets crammed into one talk or breakout session. With Birmingham being such a hub for startups, S3 will fit right into that culture.”
Russell says the S3 conference will be useful for influencers, marketing teams, and small business owners.
Small business owners stand to gain the most especially if they are bootstrapping their business model and can’t afford to hire a third-party firm to manage and grow their social media footprint,” Russell says.
And here’s the thing — if you’re a writer or blogger you are essentially a small business owner, too. You are your business.
“We will provide tactical takeaways that can be implemented quickly and will show immediate results,” Russell adds.
In addition to my talk on blogging you can also expect workshops on video marketing, iPhone photography, paid advertising and more. And the day will conclude with a panel discussion with some of the Southeast’s most influential women in social media. The panel will feature Jamie Golden of the Popcast, Ashley Naumoff from Shipt, Uma Srivastava from KultureCity, Katie Vogel from Church of the Highlands, and Anna Weissinger from Sociallyin.
“Managing social media is a lot of hard work and we want to recognize that it has been mostly women who have stepped up to the challenge and changed the game,” Russell says.
