Name a woman who has shaped Alabama for the better. What difference has she made in the lives of those around her?

That’s the question Alabama Media Group posed to readers for its second annual search for the Women Who Shape the State. I am honored to announce that I was one of the more than 100 women nominated and one of the 30 women selected to be recognized this year!

And I must say it was quite special to find out I had been nominated by my husband — who has always been my biggest cheerleader and greatest supporter.

This honor included a fancy photo shoot styled by Von Maur and a feature in Birmingham Magazine. (Before the shoot I had Christina Renteria of PinkLux do my makeup.)

When I was a girl I dreamed of writing for magazines. Now I’m not only writing for magazines but, because of See Jane Write, I’m being featured in magazines, too!
