I always encourage the women of See Jane Write to jot down 10 ideas every day to keep their creativity muscles toned.
Where can you find inspiration for 10 new ideas every single day? EVERYWHERE. Everything that you read, watch, and listen to can be inspiration. The things you’re thinking about and obsessing over can turn into stories, essays, articles, or even poems.
That’s why I love to share with you what I’m into.
Here’s what I’m currently reading, watching, listening to, planning, loving, and obsessing over.
Reading
Right now, I’m finishing up Dantiel W. Moniz’s riveting debut short story collection MILK BLOOD HEAT. Before reading that I had the opportunity to read a review copy of Briana Cole’s The Marriage Pass, which was released today. The book follows Dr. Dorian Graham and what happens when his wife gives him a “hall pass” and he uses it to have sex with his wife’s sister!!! Publisher’s Weekly has called the book “a surefire hit” that’s “sensual and shocking.” Popsugar has said it’s “as thrilling as it is sexy.” If binging Bridgerton has you in the mood for a steamy read, you need to add The Marriage Pass to your TBR list.
Watching
I have decided that since I can’t meet my friends for brunch or drinks or anything else that watching TV will be my way of having fun in the evenings and on the weekends. Some of my favorite shows right now are The Equalizer (all hail Queen Latifah!), N.C.I.S. Los Angeles, WandaVision (#blerdforlife), and Queen Sugar.
Every afternoon I watch The Talk on CBS while I eat lunch. Yes, I have an afternoon show like an old lady watching her stories. What can I say –I’m 40!
Also, watching made-for-TV movies on Lifetime and texting my cousin about the storylines is my new Saturday night.
Listening to
I’m loving Kelly Rowland’s new EP K.
Planning
Next month I’ll be reopening enrollment for the See Jane Write Collective so planning for that has been top of mind and at the top of my to-do list. I’m excited to roll out so many fun initiatives this spring!
Loving
Currently, I’m loving driving my new car, rocking short hair, being 40, and being my husband’s wife.
Obsessing over
Behind every successful woman is a group text hyping her up. And I want to be the captain of the cheer squad encouraging you to write and be the author of your life. So, I’m building a text community! I’ll be sending you writing prompts, writing tips, affirmations, quotes, announcements, and more. Text me at 205-892-9501 to get this party started!
