You might be a blogger if you’re excited about your next birthday just so you can start blog series you’ve been planning for years.
Let me explain.
Years ago, I decided that I was going to put together an epic 40 Before 40 list and blog about my journey as I crossed each adventure off my list. But now that age 39 is only a little over two months away I’ve realized I have two problems: 1) I don’t have a list of 40 things I want to do before 40 and 2) My personal blog, which is where I had planned to post about my shenanigans, hasn’t been updated in over two years.
So I need your help.
First, I need some ideas for my list. Here’s what I have so far:
- Launch a podcast.
- Have my first $10K month.
- Buy a new car.
- Get a new passport and use it.
- Speak at Creative Mornings Birmingham.
- Take dance classes at Intercity Dance Collective.
- Host a Galentine’s Day event.
- Reach my goal weight.
- Host a small group at my house.
- Write for 10 of my favorite publications.
I want this list filled with goals for every area of life — health and fitness, spiritual, family, friends, marriage, financial, career, and fun.
I want to include activities that will help me be a tourist in my own city of Birmingham.
The things on this list can be both big and small.
And I’d love to add things that you could be a part of, too.
So, share with me some things on your birthday or bucket lists to give me some inspiration.
Second, I need you to help me decide where I’m going to blog about my journey. Should I do so here on the See Jane Write blog? Should I write about it on my portfolio site Javacia.com? Should I raise Writeous Babe from the dead? Should I start a new blog just for this?
Or maybe I shouldn’t blog about it all. Should I just share it on Instagram or Facebook instead?
I would love to know what you think.
A SJW anthology! A printed book compiled with all your favorite posts from members over the years. 🙂
I thought about doing something like this years ago. Thanks for the reminder. I may have to add that to the list.
Write a memoir about your writing and teaching journey.
Yes, I definitely need to add my book to the list.
Launch a stationary line!
What a fun idea!
– Break a bad habit
– Read every book by your favorite author
– Go skinny dipping (somewhere legally)
I love these!
Ooooh. Blog post idea. Thank you.
You’re welcome!
Thank you. https://rodneyssaga.com/2019/12/20/60-before-60/
Hope I’m not going too far in your blog history by commenting here but a few things came to mind:
-visit all 50 states (I will admit this was a bucket list goal of mine we just hit!)
-some sort of audacious fitness goal (a fast 5k, a marathon, a multi-day hike, Bench 100 lbs, whatever you fancy-maybe the Trail Blaze Challenge?).
-go “all in” with a local political campaign (it is 2020 after all)
-learn a new skill (mine this year is subversive cross stitch)
These are great ideas. I will only have a year to do these so visit all 50 states probably won’t be possible. I’ve done two half-marathons. I thought about training for a full, but my doctors won’t sign off on it due to a health condition I have. But I definitely want to include travel and a fitness goal on my list. I want to learn a new skill, too. I just can’t think of what.
Thanks again for these great ideas!
