I’m always brainstorming different ways to help the women of See Jane Write.
Last week, for example, I hosted a goal-setting workshop to help See Jane Write members kick off the year motivated and inspired. (Check out this recap from Heather of My Life Well Loved and this one from Katherine of Rodney’s Saga.)
And next week’s event with Carrie Rollwagen is designed to help women looking to transform their blog idea into a book idea, women looking to self-publish, and women who just want to get better at self-promotion. (Get your tickets here! Only a few tickets are left!)
But I know the best way to figure out what the women of See Jane Write need and want is to simply ask. So this month I’m doing just that. I’ve composed a two-question survey to help me determine what changes I should make to See Jane Write this year.
And I’m offering an incentive for completing the survey: You could win free admission to all ticketed See Jane Write events held between Feb. 1 to Dec. 31. This includes our annual Bloganista conference!
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Click here to complete the two-question survey.
2. After you have completed the survey, comment on this blog post. In your comment, let me know that you’ve completed the survey and tell me one event or program you’d like See Jane Write to offer this year.
3. Enter the contest using the widget below.

The winner will be announced January 30, 2015.
Completed the survey, I think.
Activites: ice breakers, meet-ups, etc. I want to hear what other people are doing with their blogs.
Great idea, Katherine! It’s been too long since we’ve had a social event!
Completed the survey.
Activities: author meet-ups for sharing ideas, suggestions, critiques, etc.
I took the survey, and Your upcoming event about turning your blog idea into a book looks awesome! My other main concern is just time management (fitting in blogging with real life tasks) and keeping it going when life gets overcrowded.
Thanks, Lisa! I am currently offering an e-course on time management. Get more details here: http://www.writeousbabe.com/2015/01/how-to-write-and-have-life.html
I completed the survey. It would be good to have an event to talk about general legal issues we need to be on top of as a blogger.
We’ve had a program on this before. Perhaps it’s time to have another. Thanks for the suggestion!
I completed the survey!!! I would like to see some networking events and maybe more conferences like the bloganista mini con. Also maybe more info on monetization of your blog.
I completed the survey. I would love to meet with ladies who just need a designated date and time on their calendar to meet and write. I carve out that time for myself and because I am only accountable to me, if something else comes up it’s nothing for me to cancel my writing time. But if I knew there were 5 or 6 other ladies at the coffee shop/library/clubhouse/etc. waiting to meet so we could have a writing sprint then I would be more inclined to stay committed to that commitment.
Or maybe I just need a “how to make time for yourself and your writing” event :-/
Hi LaTonia, I’ve had programs in the past to help people get writing partners. Maybe I need to have one again. Also, I’m currently offering an e-course on time management. You can get details here: http://www.writeousbabe.com/2015/01/how-to-write-and-have-life.html
I completed the survey and would love to get some connections, ideas, or lessons on how to develop my writing in to speaking opportunities.
Hi Javacia! I completed the survey. I hope my input is useful. 🙂
I completed the survey. I think that a great event would be an one featuring book publishing professionals such as editors from publishing houses, literary agents, etc. so that we can make some contacts in the industry for those whose who want to explore traditional publishing in addition to self-publishing.
Meet ups and networking events. Loved the conference but a series of different topics sprinkled throughout the year would be good. Example: In January – Using social media to promote your blog; In March: How to make your blog attractive to readers/professional. Things like that.
Hi Lakisha! We do have events on various topics throughout the year. We’ve had three social media workshops, for example. And there’s another one in the works for this year. Make sure you’re on the mailing list and following us on Facebook so you’ll stay up-to-date.
I forgot to say it but I completed the survey. Thanks
I forgot to say it but I completed the survey. Thanks
I completed the survey!
I’d love to see more workshops. The speaker events are WONDERFUL, but I love having an opportunity to immediately put the advice into action, as we did with the goal-setting workshop.
I’ve completed the survey. I have enjoyed all of the SJW events. The Bloganista was one one of my favorites! Looking forward to what’s coming in 2015.
I completed the survey. I would like to see more beginner level offerings.
I’ve completed the survey. It was actually helpful to think through the second question. Made me realize how much I need to attend this upcoming event!
One event I would love to see is a volunteer day with Jones Valley Farm. I love that Jones Valley teaches families how to grow their own food and promotes healthier living for Birmingham. I think we could all learn a lot from volunteering with them and it would make for some great blog posts. It would also give us the opportunity to get our sweat on together in a unique way. Outdoor fitness!
I did the survey! I’d love to see an event that featured a book swap of inspiring books (fiction or nonfiction). I’d also like to see an event that shows people how to grow their blogs. I feel like I’m producing good content often, but my audience and reach are just so slow in their growth! I know it’s not a fast process, but there’s got to be something I could be doing better.
Completed the survey. I’d love to work with you to have See Jane Write a part of Birmingham Arts Journal 10th My Favorite Poem (September) and perhaps cosponsor some sort of poetry writing workshop? (I am trying to get the event as part of the ASFA Star Pass series… it’s been held at ASFA all these years through the Creative Writing dept. 🙂
I took the survey! I would love to hear from others who have managed to blog professionally full-time and how they do it, what that looks like, etc. I would prefer that their subject matter would be something other than “how to blog.” For example, food bloggers, fashion bloggers, etc.
Completed the survey and would love to win a free pass to the Bloganista conference!! Can’t wait for it!!
I completed the survey. I haven’t written in over five years so I would love to see/participate in events that offer support for women that have been “out of the loop” but aching to get back in.
Thanks for this opportunity Javacia. I completed the survey. I just attended the blog-to-book event and learned a lot on more things I can do. I JUST started blogging and I feel so behind. I would like to attend a workshop with, perhaps, 3-minute one-on-ones between newbie bloggers and seasoned bloggers. I think each one could offer different and valuable tips in a different way.
I completed the survey! I would love a session where we hear from a graphic artist and/or site designer for some tips on how to make our site more engaging, up-to-date and easy-to-use. Perhaps we can have a session at the end where they take a few minutes with each of us & suggest a few updates or changes to make our site better!
