10 Things I Love Right Now

Making a list of 10 things I love is one of my favorite journaling exercises. It’s a great way to boost your mood and inspire an attitude of gratitude.

In past years, I regularly posted lists of 30 things I love. And I’m not the only fan of love lists. A Beautiful Mess features 10 Things I Love Sunday each week. And Janine Defontaine makes a list of 99 things she loves as an annual self-reflection activity.

So let’s take a look at 10 things I love right now.

Good People Vote: Election Day Journal Prompts

When you think of Election Day journal prompts, you may only think of writing exercises for kids.

But a chat with Tyra Robinson of Good People Vote helped me realize that adults should do some journaling in preparation for Election Day too.

Good People Vote is a Birmingham-based organization dedicated to celebrating active voters and providing relevant information on every aspect of electoral processes, both locally and nationally. Their goal is to spark conversations and self-reflection to encourage communities to take ownership of the civic process.

Meet Jelisa Jay Robinson of the faith-based writing space Light Write

Jelisa Jay Robinson is the woman behind the faith-based writing space called Light Write — a virtual meet-up of writers who seek to worship with words.

Like many of us, Jelisa began to reconsider her priorities during the pandemic. “Every time I wrote out my list of priorities, my faith and my writing came in the top six,” says the Houston, Texas native.  “I wanted a space where the two can come together.”

And Light Write was born. During these virtual writing sessions, participants are invited to write in response to prompts. These sessions also include prayer and worship music, but Jelisa strives to make Light Write a faith-based writing space that’s open to all, regardless of their beliefs.

It’s because of her commitment to cultivating community that Jelisa — a playwright, theatre teacher, wife and step mom — is the See Jane Write member of the month for November 2022.

Jelisa is hosting two Light Write sessions this month: one on Saturday, November 5 from 10 to 11:30 am CT (register here) and a special NaNoWriMo write-in edition of Light Write on Monday, November 21 from 7 to 9 pm CT. You can register here.

30 November Writing Prompts

Here are 30 November writing prompts to help you with whichever writing challenge you decide to take on this month.

Fiction writers who have signed up for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) are setting out to write 50,000 words of a new novel. Or maybe you’re going to be a NaNo Rebel and work on something else, such as a memoir or movie script.

Here at See Jane Write HQ, November is all about Blog Like Crazy – an annual challenge to publish a new blog post every day for 30 days. (It’s like NaBloPoMo – or National Blog Posting Month – but with a much cooler name.)

Or maybe you just want to make this November the month you finally develop a writing routine you can stick with.

No matter your goal, writing prompts can help you achieve it.
