When I was an English teacher, I kept a quote board in my classroom, and each October, I’d display this quote from Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables: “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

Football, fall weather, Smart Party, my husband’s birthday, and Halloween – I have many reasons to love October. Yet considering what a dumpster fire 2020 has been, I’m hesitant to get excited about anything these days.

But there’s another quote from Anne of Green Gables that I’ve decided will be my mantra as we enter the last 90 days of this year: “I don’t know what lies around the bend, but I’m going to believe that the best does.”

In spite of cancer, COVID, and chaos, I’m going to set big, bold goals for the final quarter of 2020 and I’m going to believe I can achieve them all. And I’m going to set goals for October that will help get me there.

To set my goals for the last 90 days of the year, I first gave myself permission to simply dream. I did a brain dump of all the things – big and small – that I would like to do before the end of the year. This included big goals like writing a new draft of my book and having my first $10K month and small things like deep cleaning my house and catching up on my magazines.

Then, from that list I chose 10 goals to focus on for the final quarter. (I chose 10 because that would give me a week to get laser focused on each goal and give me two weeks off for the holidays.)

My Goals for the Last 90 Days of 2020

  10. Write a new draft of my book.

Next, I decided what 4 things I will focus on doing in October to get me closer to achieving my Last 90 Days goals.
