Having a SOL Dance Experience with the ladies of See Jane Write was the highlight of my week.

Being a happy feminist has felt nearly impossible these days, for reasons that are obvious to anyone who keeps up with the news. And as we learn of more and more women who have suffered sexual assault by male politicians and celebrities, what’s almost just as enraging is the “Why is she just now coming forward?” bullshit that so many people — including other women — are saying in response to the allegations.

But the purpose of this post is to add a little happiness to your day, so I’ll step down from my soapbox and share with you 5 things that added a bit of joy to my week.

The highlights from the 2017 Glamour Women of the Year Awards gave me all the happy feminist feels.

Cards Against Humanity says it bought land on the U.S.-Mexico border to block President Trump from building his wall. The irreverent card game company is known for its attention-seeking pranks, so I’m not sure if this is true, but I pray that is.

Thursday I got to hang out with fellow blogger babes at Black Bloggers United Birmingham meetup at The Marble Ring, a swanky speakeasy in Avondale.

And Thursday’s evening of black girl magic was followed by another one Friday evening as I joined Kristin Farmer at a special party to celebrate the launch of her natural hair-themed gift wrap, the first product of her new company Curly Contessa. You can pre-order your gift wrap curlycontessa.store.

To top off the week, I hosted a SOL Dance Experience session for the ladies of See Jane Write to celebrate making it halfway through #bloglikecrazy. For one hour straight we danced in the dark sweating out all the stress of the week and felt like superstars in our very own music video. We found our light in the dark so we can go shine our light into the darkness of this world.

What made you a happy feminist this week?
