People who say there’s nothing to do in Birmingham are lying or just not paying attention. Here are just a few things to do this weekend.

Aug. 4: Birmingham Art Crawl

Every first Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., rain or shine, the Birmingham Art Crawl transforms Downtown Birmingham into a sprawling art gallery to show off the talent of the city’s artists and artisans. Venues stretch across downtown Birmingham including galleries, restaurants and bars, downtown businesses and more, and artists set up show on the sidewalks and in parking lots, too. Each month about 3,000 art enthusiasts attend to support 50 or so local artists, musicians, and performers. This month’s Art Crawl theme is “Beach Party” and will include handmade jewelry and homemade wine-infused jelly by See Jane Write member Sasha Maples Johns of True Vine Gifts.  Learn more at birminghamartcrawl.com
