Juneteenth is a day for Black people to celebrate Juneteenth is a day for Black people to celebrate being alive. And considering this country’s past — and present — it’s a miracle that any of us are surviving, let alone thriving. This year as Juneteenth falls on Father’s Day I want to celebrate the lives of three Black me who mean the world to me.

My father — the man who made me a feminist and gave me the confidence to believe I could be and do anything I wanted.

My brother @ceejharris — my calm in every storm who I’ve had the honor of seeing be an amazing #girldad.

My husband @edwardbowser — the love of my life and a man who, through church ministry and beyond, has been a selfless father figure to dozens of young people.

I hope you each know that no matter what this world throws at you, you are a king and worthy of all good things.

I love you.

On Friday, June 24 I’ll be hosting a virtual mix On Friday, June 24 I’ll be hosting a virtual mixer and journaling party for writers. Come find the community you need to help you write that book, launch that blog, or start that freelance writing career.

I’ve already got my @drinksurely non-alcoholic wine ready for the occasion. Just think — you can sip this wine while you write without worrying about waking up the next day to find that none of your sentences make sense! (If you want to try it, use the code JAVACIA for a discount.)

The virtual mixer is a part of the 2022 See Jane Write Summit, set for June 20-26. Head to the link in my bio to get signed up.

Hey, girl, hey! I wanted to let you know about 3 Hey, girl, hey!

I wanted to let you know about 3 of the sessions I'll be leading during the 2022 See Jane Write Summit -- which kicks off on Monday, June 20.

On Tuesday, June 21, join me for Good Girl Gone Freelance. I'll be sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly of freelancing and how I built a life that allows me to write on my own terms.

On Wednesday, June 22, I'll be giving you a mid-week motivational pep talk, offering tips on how to develop discipline and stay consistent.

And on Thursday, June 23, join me for a fun Lunch & Learn that will give you my personal blueprint for setting and slaying writing goals.

All these events are virtual, so you don't even need to put on pants to attend!
