The See Jane Write member of the month is Brie Cash of the I Am Woman Network.

When I met Brie last year, I had no idea she was facing so many hardships because, quite frankly, she always looks fabulous.

But as the old saying goes, you can’t judge a book by its cover.

“I have spent the last year and a half in a nasty custody battle,” Brie shares. “Most of 2015 I was homeless going from friend to friend.”

But from these hardships was born an idea — the I Am Woman Network.

“I prayed for purpose and He gave me a vision that is leading to my purpose,” Brie says, explaining that the I Am Woman Network exists to “equip and empower women to live purposefully.”

The person who nominated Brie for Member of the Month had this to say about her:

“I met Brie Cash at a the See Jane Write event Lady Blogger to Boss Lady this summer.  We happened to sit next to each other and we became fast friends. Since that See Jane Write event this past June, Brie and I have stayed in contact encouraging each other to be boss ladies, and honestly Brie does most of the encouraging with her words and actions.

“Brie has truly taken her blog to the next level.  Brie got creative and has done Periscope events encouraging the followers of her I Am Woman Network to pursue their passions with zest.   Brie is even taking her blog a step further as Javacia suggested this summer, and getting out there with hosting events.

“I am nominating Brie Cash because she is a Jane who doesn’t just attend See Jane Write events but she is a Jane who incorporates the wealth of knowledge from those events into her blogging to impact her tribe.”

I certainly agreed with these sentiments and was eager to chat with Brie to learn more about the I Am Woman Network and her goals for 2016.

Now, I understand that you originally started the I Am Woman Network to empower single mothers, but you’ve now changed to focus a bit. How would you describe the new I Am Woman Network? What makes the I Am Woman Network different from other groups and websites for women?

The new I Am Woman is about rehabilitation, prevention and direction. I believe all of these things make us different from other women sites as a lot of things are put in place AFTER a woman has found herself in a bad place. We want to be able to recognize the signs before, or give her choices that will keep her from going to dark places.

It’s all about learning how to forgive ourselves, too. We as women can hold on to so much and it stunts our growth causing us to be more angry or bitter because nothing has changed; failing to realize in order to create change we must control the thoughts we allow to manifest in our minds.

I live by these words and I encourage other women to do the same: God will grant you favor even after a failure.

What are your goals or resolutions for 2016?

Personally, I’m hoping to finally be able to start the process for graduate school.

Professionally, this year is about growth and relationships.

Event hosting. More networking — attending at least 5 to 10 events, making a minimum of one connection at each. And collaborating with at least 5 other bloggers.

TV time with Talk of Alabama.

The biggest goal will be moving to a complete life and style community.

And I’m hoping to do all of this while dropping at least 40 pounds before 2016 is over.

What can we expect from the I Am Woman Network in 2016?

Events! I have not ventured out publicly yet, so hosting events will remedy that. Volunteer work is also under way at Pathways (a United Way agency that serves homeless women and children).

Lots of fresh, new content as new topics like beauty, fashion, health and wellness are being added to the site.

Why did you decide to be a part of See Jane Write?

A friend and fellow creative said to me one day, “I have a friend (Javacia) who is all about helping women creatively find their voice”. I sent you a Facebook message, attended my first event and from there I was hooked.

What do you like best about the network?

Aside from the warm welcome (and feeling your eagerness to help), it would have to be the sisterhood that I enjoy best about See Jane Write. It’s inspiring and motivating to be surrounded by such goal-oriented and successful women who understand that helping you achieve your goals doesn’t keep them from achieving theirs.

If you would like to be a part of the See Jane Write Network, membership is reopening soon! Sign up for our email list to be notified.
